 MIAA- POWER RANKINGS

Boys Lacrosse

The boys’ lacrosse team lost to Acton-Boxborough during the round of 32 in the Division 1 MIAA boys lacrosse tournament. The boys battled hard and were trailing 8-4 at the half before the Colonials pulled away for good.

Boys Rugby

The Boys Rugby team wrapped up their season Wednesday night on the road against Xaverian Brothers HS in the MIAA D1 Semi-finals.  Despite a valiant effort and relentless tackling from our team, Xaverian played an excellent match and won 17-38 to earn a spot in the state finals next week.  Huge credit to our seniors who gave so much on the field, but even more so off of it during their time with the program.  We thank you for being a part of the BRFC and for the time we were able to share. We now welcome you to our proud alumni group and know you will continue to support the team in the years ahead. Congratulations to all of our players and coaches on a wonderful season where our 1st XV (varsity) team finished 6-2-1.  As of last week we were ranked #25 in the country for high school teams and are fortunate to play in a region that has some of the top schools in the nation competing. Last, to all of our families and the community who came out this week and all season, your support is unending and appreciated and we thank you for it.

Girls Lacrosse

The girls lacrosse team ended their season this past Tuesday evening with a round of 16 tournament defeat to the #3 seeded Lincoln-Sudbury. It was the furthest tournament round appearance for the girl’s program in recent years and we are already looking ahead to next spring with a core group of returning players from both the varsity and the JV team who finished with a 17-1 record on the season. Special recognition, thanks, and congratulations to our graduating seniors: Ellie Baird, Bailey Cumbo, Anna Santos, Charlotte Mayall, Tyler Mayall, & Keira Healy!

Ultimate Frisbee

After 10 amazing years at the helm, we bid Coach Mark Wagner a happy retirement from coaching this week.  Mark took over the program in 2016, when no one else was available to step up- which would have led to the ending of the program.  Mark coached the team with his son, Evan, on it and- amazingly- chose to continue coaching even after Evan graduated, and then continued until this year.  The community is thankful for all of his energy, time, and commitment to the program to help it grow to its current state.  Even though Mark won’t be a regular on the sidelines anymore, we know he’ll still be yelling “up” calls from wherever he is!

Softball

The softball team won our opening tournament game on May 29th over Diman Regional Voke Tech by a score of 5-4. Senior Tess Burroso went 2 for 3 and knocked in 2 runs and senior Josie Kim went 2 for 3 and scored two runs in the win.  In the next round The softballers headed down to Taunton for a matchup with the #1 ranked Taunton Tigers and lost 12-0 to end the season.  Senior Amelia Ormond had the only hit of the game for the Marauders.  Three seniors achieved a career milestone this past season, each surpassing 100 hits in their high school softball careers. Those seniors are Amelia Ormond, Josie Kim, and Tessa Burroso. Kim and Amelia Ormond were also named Middlesex League All-Stars for this season.

Girls Outdoor Track

For today  –  just a huge, heartfelt, Thank You to our amazing Varsity seniors: Dana Lehr, Sarah Yu, Lucy Hamer, Ailinn Capitani, Ayla Robinson, Linda Sheng and Ava Wright.  We we will miss you so much, and while we secretly wish you failed every class this semester to you’d have to repeat another year at Belmont, we are thrilled for all y’all got going on in your future.  Come back and visit: you will always be entitled to post-run coffee/ice cream on Coach George’s Capitol One Venture X Business Card.  With appreciation, Coach Becca, Coach Clark, and G.

Girls Rugby

The Girls Rugby team faced a skilled and exciting Brookline High School side at home in the State Semi-Final Match on Tuesday 6/3. Belmont scored early in the first half but were held scoreless for 20 minutes by a strong Brookline defense. Coming out of half time, Belmont finished the game with 4 more tries and all 23 players made it into the match. Most impressively, the team’s 8 tries were scored by 8 different players. Credit to seniors Hannah Jacoby, Sadie Taylor and Robyn Tonomura-MacDonald who made tremendous tackles helping to keep Brookline scoreless in the definitive semi-final match. The team earned the opportunity to play in the State Championship Match against Lincoln-Sudbury at Curry College on June 14th.
