Belmont High School

From the Principal's Desk

Friday, October 4th, 2024

Dear BHS Students and Families,

Earlier today, administration sent out an email with information about progress reports and school attendance. You can view that letter HERE.

At 4pm today, we will be testing the BHS text alert system (currently we can only text families, not students), which we can use to communicate information when there is a more urgent or time-sensitive need. While we don’t anticipate this happening very often, we ask that you please save this number to your contacts for future reference.

Isaac Taylor, Principal

Class of 2027 Halloween Dance

We hope everyone had a chance to walk around and learn about clubs at the Activities Fair on Tuesday. If you missed it or want to see the clubs again, the list is here. You can see the student leaders and staff advisors to each club if you'd like to reach out and find out more. We also want to include a message from PTSO, who very generously support BHS clubs every year. BHS clubs are self-funded, and club members must raise money if they choose to do activities that include a monetary cost. Clubs have an opportunity to receive funding from the PTSO through the student club grant program. Please consider donating to the PTSO to help support initiatives such as the grant program as well as many other programs that benefit students, teachers, staff and parents. Here is the link to donate.

The Marauders start ML12 competition this weekend with a 2:30 pm matchup with Winchester.

Despite a tough loss last Friday night, the team is building off some great individual and collective efforts. Senior captain Billy Hendrickson had an impressive interception and sophomore Lincoln Correia made a valiant effort late in the 4th quarter to get some points on the board for Belmont with a great 40 yard run.

The players are continuing to work hard, improve with each game, and look forward to our next matchup against Winchester this Saturday afternoon. Support for the team is deeply appreciated.

Cheer

The cheer team had so much fun gearing up for choreography day this weekend. We wrapped up the week with media day and are ready to prepare for competition!

Golf

The golf team improved its record to 10-2 with two matches remaining in the season.  This week included wins over Arlington and Arlington Catholic.  With two matches left in the season, the goal is to finish strong and build momentum going into the state sectional tournament on October 16th.

Girls Soccer

The girls varsity had another good week with a win against Burlington 4-0 and tie against Wilmington 0-0 the varsity team still undefeated with a record 7-0-4 the Jva had a good win against Wilmington 1-0 and the jvb and jvb had a good win also .

Boys Soccer

It has been a busy last couple of weeks for all three boys soccer programs. Just take a look at the Belmont Middle School grass field if you want to have an idea of how much soccer has been played. All three groups have been working hard and building a better understanding of the game and how that understanding can be applied to the team.

Girls Volleyball

On Monday Belmont beat Wilmington, bringing their record to 5-6.  LeeLee Kozelian was a big contributor at the net recording 8 kills out of 16 attacks.  Wenxi Wang also was a huge contributor on offense, breaking the single match aces record with 12!

Girls Swimming and Diving

Congratulations to our girls picking up another win, against Wakefield! Highlights included 100 fly 1,2,3 clean sweep by Capt Katrina Chan, frosh Aislinn Reynolds, and jr Lilly Glavin. Our divers Divers have been working hard! Last week we hosted a team from Long Island NY, and it was exciting to see our Captain and defending #1 State Champion, Robyn Tonomura-MacDonald, win against their talented divers.

Boys Cross Country

Boys’ XC has a 4-1 record this season, with Woburn coming up on Tuesday.  This week, captain Jared Rife set the course record at the Arlington Home XC Course, with his first spits clocking in at a sub 5-minute pace.  It all happened so fast that by the time Coach George had finished factoring his “trinomial of the day,” the race was over!  Big shout out to Selim Efe as well, who spearheaded the JV race and PRed massively.  The team has a some serious momentum right now - Woburn better check its six.

Girls Cross Country

The cross country team faced Arlington away this past Tuesday. The team produced their best result against Arlington in years and many of the runners walked away with some of their best races all season. The team is training hard in preparation for what is anticipated to be a close race against Woburn at Horn Pond next Tuesday.

Field Hockey

The freshman team is 5-2-1.  The midfield line is dynamic, communicative, and coming together to make great plays happen.  The JV team is 7-2-2 after a tie against Westford Academy on Wednesday.  Chloe O’Grady has been crushing it on the right wing with beautiful crosses which often lead to strong shots.  The Varsity team is now 9-2 and have been ranked 9th in the Div 1 MIAA polls.  Gigi Mastrangelo’s play on the right wing has led to many offensive opportunities in the last several games.
