From the Principal's Desk

Friday, March 20th, 2026

Dear BHS Students and Families,

I write to share some difficult news. Some of you may be aware that Principal Taylor has been absent this past week. Last weekend Mr. Taylor’s son, Josh, passed away unexpectedly. Mr. Taylor has been with his family during this incredibly difficult time. As a staff and a community our hearts ache for him and his family. I am confident that the larger BHS community will rally together in care and support of him throughout the challenging days ahead.

In the short term, myself, Ms. Gavin, and Dr. Molk will work together with the wider school and district leadership teams to manage daily operations. If you have communications or school related matters that would normally be directed to Mr. Taylor, please reach out to me.

Lastly, I will share what I said to staff when we informed them of this news. We as a school community are extremely fortunate to be surrounded by students, staff, and community members who not only care about education and academic pursuits, but more importantly about each other as humans. We have come together to support members of our community in the past, and I have no doubt that we will continue to do this through our shared values and empathy.

Dan O’Brien

Assistant Principal

MCAS March 24th & March 25th

On Tuesday March 24 and Wednesday March 25, we will be administering the MCAS English Language Arts exam to all our sophomores, and any other student who has not yet taken the exam.  Students taking MCAS should arrive to BHS by 8:00 am with a fully charged Chromebook.  The exam usually takes around 2-3 hours, but students have until the end of the school day if they need the time.  All other students can arrive for lunch and then must be in class (D block at 11:11 on Tuesday, D block at 10:45 on Wednesday). Please reach out to Ms. Gavin (egavin@belmontschools.net) with any questions or concerns.  Go Marauders!

PSAT For Sophomores

Give your Sophomore student a PSAT practice run with Revolution Prep. These exams mirror the official test format, timing, and tools—like the on-screen graphing calculator, digital notes, and answer elimination.

 Why This Matters

After the exam, you’ll meet with a Revolution Prep testing expert for a 30-minute score review. This is where families unlock their student’s testing strategy—which test fits best, when to take it, and whether a class or tutoring is the strongest next step.
