Dear BHS Students and Families,

Last Saturday the football team ran a very successful food drive in support of the Belmont Food Pantry. In recent weeks, there have been several student drives to collect coats, winter gear, and necessities for families in need. It is heartwarming to see so many students supporting this work, and recognizing that many individuals and families are struggling with food, housing, and financial insecurity at the moment, even at a time of general prosperity. Children growing up in households facing financial insecurity often face stigma, particularly in wealthier neighborhoods. With this in mind, the PTSO has supported us over the past few years in providing new clothing and necessities for students. If you would like to support this work, and all the other fantastic things the PTSO brings to the school, please consider making a donation on their website HERE.

If you’ve been following these notices for the past few weeks, you’ll know that I am still attempting to replace the National Honor Society advisor. As I have been unable to find a faculty member to take this on, I am hopeful that a parent or community member will consider it. I have had several people express interest, but all have declined to move forward once they have a more detailed understanding of the role. With this in mind, I am include a summary of the role here: Overseeing the application and appeals process for several hundred students, running induction for new members, overseeing NHS peer tutoring, monitoring volunteer hours, running biweekly meetings, and placing students on probation and/or removing them for not keeping up with the expectations. The advisor also communicates with parents who bring concerns/questions. The stipend is $1449.  If I am unable to find an advisor by the beginning of December, I will work on an alternative plan for NHS this year .If you are interested or have questions, please reach out to me directly.

Cultural Exposition Day 11/26/25

4th Annual Cultural Exposition Day - is happening Wednesday, November 26th.  Students will start the day in B block and then travel through 3 stations, before heading to the field house for our Pep Rally.  Right now we have over 50 cultures being celebrated.  Any table with food must have this form filled out and posted. Game + Puzzle  Club

The Game + Puzzle Club is running an exciting event to ease back into school after Thanksgiving break. It's a FREE school-wide puzzle hunt called Puzzle Chain! A puzzle hunt is like a scavenger hunt, but with puzzles (logic puzzles, lateral thinking puzzles, ciphers, etc.). Teams will solve puzzles leading them from room to room around the school, and have fun! The event is completely free, and there will be gift cards/prizes for the top teams. The link to register is here: https://forms.gle/TaA8Rmn7sWMJ3DbSA.

The Belmont Lions Club

The Belmont Lions Club is looking for student volunteers to help with its annual Christmas Tree & Wreath Sale, running from the day after Thanksgiving until the trees sell out in late December. Shifts are available weeknights from 5–8 PM as well as weekends.

Guided by the Lions motto ‘We Serve,’ our members work together to strengthen and enrich the Belmont community. This is a great chance to earn community service hours toward graduation while supporting an organization that donates to local charities, academic and sports programs, as well as vision and diabetes research at Massachusetts area hospitals. The Belmont Lions also award at least two scholarships each year to graduating seniors who demonstrate exceptional service to the Belmont community.

Interested students can email belmontlionsvolunteers@gmail.com or text 617-633-1793 for details.

Thanks,
