This Week, the Girls Hockey Team came away with a 5-2 win last night on the road at Arlington. Senior Captain Mackenzie Clarke led the way as she scored an empty net goal to complete her Hat Trick with less than a minute remaining in the game. Arlington had some late pressure in the Belmont defensive zone but Sophomore goalie Elinor Dorn stayed solid in the net. Freshman Mackenzie Tierney added the other 2 goals and both sophomore Mia Smith and Junior Elsie Lakin-Schultz added 2 assists on the night. Next up is a big Middlesex League battle with Woburn on Saturday. The Lady Marauders have 4 games remaining in the regular season and then will get ready for the State Tournament. Good luck to all of the teams as the Winter Sports Season is winding down.

Very exciting week for Belmont Skiing! We hosted & attended 4 races in 7 days and our athletes are performing very well. It’s an energetic team that’s not afraid of the cold or miserable conditions, but steps up to the challenge. We have several athletes who will go to state finals, which will be determined by our last race results next Tuesday. |

This Week, …The Boys varsity basketball team lost a close one to Woburn 58-50. The loss brings the team to 7-7 on the season and plays this Friday at home vs Lexington. Boys JV team also lost a close one to Woburn and the freshman team pulled out a close one on the road to remain undefeated. With just under two weeks remaining, the boys are working very hard at keeping up positive attitudes, being good teammates and continuing to grow both on and off the court. |
Girls Indoor Track had a strong showing at the Middlesex League Meet on Monday. Senior Captain Kira Van Kelsted medaled in the 1 Mile Run. We saw many Personal Bests for the year including sophomore Vera Harrell dropping 5 seconds in her 600m run and positioning herself well for a spot at Divisionals. The 4x800 relay team of Van Kelsted, Harrell, Katherine Saltus, and Captain Siri Iagnemma qualified for a spot at Divisionals. Congratulations and thank you to our Senior Captains Kira Van Kelsted, Siri Iagnemma, Joana Wolff, Daphne Ries, Fiona Rodriguez-Clark, and Taylor Neill for a great season and Indoor Track tenure at BHS. We are looking forward to seeing some of our athletes compete at the Division 2 State Meet on February 11 at New Balance.

Varsity: January’s 8-game unbeaten streak was snapped by Arlington in a tough 49-36 road loss on Jan 30.. While our defense clamped down and offense turned up in the second and third quarters - actually outscoring Arlington 23-21 - the early gap from the first quarter was just too much to overcome. We are proud of our resilience and fight! On Feb 3 vs Woburn: we showed incredible heart and toughness as we took on the undefeated Middlesex league leaders. Our team demonstrated the grit and defensive pressure that has defined our season. While the final score didn't go our way (L 50-60), this effort proved that we can compete with anyone in the state.
Despite the losses, we remain in a strong position (10-6) as we head into the final stretch of the season and into the MIAA state tournament. We’re locked in and looking forward to taking on Lexington at home tonight - 5:45p tipoff. Come watch us play!
JV: our team faced two hard fought battles this week, coming up just short against Arlington and Woburn . Despite the setbacks, the group showed grit, determination, and strong team unity in every possession. Their effort and energy never wavered, and the experience has only strengthened their resolve. Tanvi Mathura led the way vs Arlington with 10 points and Lila Green gave us a spark with 5 points and 3 steals vs Woburn. Now sitting at 10–5 overall, our team is eager to get back on track today as we take on Lexington. The girls have shown tremendous growth throughout the season and are ready to bounce back with focus and intensity. |

The boys track team competed in the Middlesex League Championships on Monday night at New Balance Track, where Belmont finished 6th out of 12 teams with an impressive 31 points. This is a significant improvement from last season! Several athletes earned medals by placing in the top eight of their events. Gregory Zugman had a standout night, finishing 4th in the 55m dash with a personal-record time of 6.77 and placing 5th in the 300m with another PR of 36.57. Ishaan Kanagaraj earned second place in the mile, running a personal-record 4:35.03, and later competed on the 4x800m relay team that placed second alongside Frido Meichsner, Ali Masoud, and Rohan Licht. The 4x200m relay team of Gregory Zugman, Ignacio (Iggy) Matorras, Lincoln Correia, and Esmael Peavey placed sixth, as did the 4x400m relay team of Malcolm Were, Jimbo Kenneally, Tomas Wolff, and Sam Amaratunga. In the field events, sophomore Esmael Peavey tied for second place in the high jump by clearing 6 feet. A select few athletes will compete at the Division 2 State Meet on February 11 at New Balance.
