Dear BHS Students and Families,
Please see the announcements for the week below. Have a great weekend!
Isaac Taylor
Principal
As you may know, there has been limited student parking recently due to the library and rink construction projects, and the closure of the jug handle. The school has been advised by the select board that there are no parking restrictions on Edgemoor Rd, Becket Rd, or Orchard St south of School St. These streets provide ample spaces if the usual corridor is filled up. The distances from them to the BHS front door are about the same as from the jug handle.
Dear Belmont HS families,
Our friends at Revolution Prep are supporting our families by offering a PSAT experience that accurately reflects the official College Board test in format, user experience, adaptivity, and content. They have carefully modeled their testing experience after the official test, so that students feel confident in navigating the intricacies of the digital format—the closest experience to the real thing that you can get!

Big shout out to student athletes Fiona Rodriguez-Clark and Sydney Munn, as well Morgan’s Message Club Adviser Dan Moresco and Belmont Wellness Coalition Program Director Lisa Gibalerio for hosting yesterday’s panel discussion in collaboration with The Hidden Opponent, a student-athlete mental health advocacy group from Brandeis University. The panel shared how mental health plays a role in their lives as student-athletes.
UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION
Week 2 of each season initiates the BHS Uniform Distribution. Big Thank you to Equipment Manager Leon Dyer for organizing this task. Reminder: Uniforms are to be returned at the conclusion of each season.
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
Thanks to our volunteer coaches and staff who continue meeting student athletes in the BHS Fitness center for in season and out of season conditions. Yesterday Girls Soccer athletes continued their work and the turnout is building. Way to go!
Baseball season is here. Yesterday was the Red Sox opening day. BHS Baseball opens up next Wednesday with Varsity, JV, and JVB games against Melrose. Lots of great work in the cages, on the mound, and at the fields have the team excited to get games going. BHS Baseball welcomes two new coaches this year…BHS Alum Michael Richardson (JV) and Derek Galante (JVB). Both coaches are high school educators and played college ball together.
Boy’s outdoor track team has started building their roster, hosting tryouts for field events like long jump, triple jump, high jump and getting times for their sprinters, mid-distance and distance runners. We will continue tryouts for the throwing events (discus, shotput and javelin) as we prepare for the first meet of the season, on April 8th against Winchester, at Burlington High School.
The Boys lacrosse season kicks off this Saturday in a non league match with our neighbors at Cambridge Rindge and Latin. There is great enthusiasm at practice and the team is ready to begin a season of competitive challenges.
The Boys Rugby Program is wrapping up their 3rd week of training and our 75 student athletes have been working hard and are excited to get their first official matches underway in the coming days. Last weekend 40 of our players traveled to CT for a joint training session with Ridgefield HS. Next, our Varsity and JV teams travel to Lincoln-Sudbury HS today (3/28) for a match and our Developmental team will head to Concord-Carlisle HS on Monday, both 430pm kickoffs. We also have our Varsity and JV home openers on Friday April 4th against Xaverian Brothers at 6pm on Harris Field and would appreciate any support from the community.
Boys tennis welcomes new Head Coach John Loosmann. The return returns a strong core and has been competing in practice to develop a lineup for the first match.
The Ultimate team had our first game of the season. We won 13-10 against Concord-Carlisle. Looking forward to a great season!
Softball season has started! The Varsity and JV Marauder softball team season opener will be played Wednesday April 2, at Melrose. The Marauders will be led by senior captains Josie Kim, Ress Burroso, Amelia Ormond. We are looking forward to a great season! Please come out to Clay Pit Field and catch us in action.
This season Girls Outdoor Track welcomes new Head Coach Tim Georg. The team is preparing for the first meet of the season, on April 8th against Winchester, at Burlington High School.
The Girls lacrosse season is underway and after several days of tryouts we have full varsity and JV rosters. The varsity girls participated in 2 jamborees last weekend, and the finished pre-season with a scrimmage against the 3x defending D2 state champs. We are primed and ready to go for the season which begins tonight at 7pm at Andover high school. The home opener for the girl’s team will be on Thursday April 3rd against Westford Academy on Harris Field at 6pm.
Girls Rugby has started the season with a strong set of returning athletes and an astounding number of new players! On March 22, the team had a joint practice and scrimmage set with Lincoln-Sudbury’s Varsity and JV sides. On Friday March 28th, the team travels to Southington C.T. to face their Varsity and JV squads in our first full scrimmages of the season!
Girls tennis is looking forward to beginning match play next week. With most of our varsity lineup from last year returning and many experienced players, we are anticipating a competitive season.

Students: The deadline for submitting your hours for the President's Volunteer Service Award is this Monday, March 31! This is a hard deadline, so make sure you get your hours submitted before the end of the month. Please keep reading for more details.
Dear students, as you go through the year and volunteer to help others, please be aware that the President’s Volunteer Service Award is available to all BHS students who are helping others. This is a prestigious, nationally recognized award given to motivated individuals.
If you are interested, please keep reading to learn what you need to do for the President’s Service Volunteer Award. It’s important to keep track of your volunteering hours and complete the proper documentation, including supervisor’s signatures, to qualify to receive an award, which will be given out at the high school award ceremonies in the spring. A total of fifty five BHS students received PVSA awards last year. Your volunteering needs to have been done between April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025 in order to count for this award cycle. The volunteering hours you do for BHS community service hours (and log in the Mobile Serves app) can also count toward this award if they qualify, but you have to take the extra steps to document and submit your hours as outlined below to earn this extra award. Please follow these steps:
Now is a great time to make a copy of the President Volunteer Service Award’s 2025 Service Log, which is a master list of your volunteering activities. Rename it with your name at the top. Fill it out during the year each time you volunteer.
Print out some Volunteer Service Forms to bring with you each time you volunteer to get your supervisor’s signature at the time of service. If you did service this summer or last spring, contact your supervisor and get them to sign your form retroactively. You will bring all of these to your PTSO volunteer review meeting (which you set up after you have submitted your application form- see the next step).
When March comes around, you will be ready to submit the President’s Volunteer Service Award Application Form. This has a hard deadline of March 31, 2025. Once you have submitted this, you will be contacted by the PTSO to set up a quick (5-10 minute) volunteer review meeting, which will take place at the high school during school hours. There will be several different days offered for this in April.
This program is volunteer-run and funded by the BHS PTSO. Many thanks for the parent donations that make this and other PTSO programs possible to support students.
If you have questions, please send them to bhsptsoservice@gmail.com.
Best wishes,
Amanda Lubarsky & Portia Thompson
BHS PTSO PSVA Coordinators
