A letter from Ms. Williams

Dear Burbank Families,

As winter sets in, I hope you are all staying warm and enjoying the season. With the final week of school for 2025 here, we’re looking forward to finishing the year with a combination of focused learning and festive activities. We’re especially excited for our All-School Meeting and the Winter Door Decorating Stroll, where we’ll see the creative displays from our students and staff.

While we don’t celebrate religious holidays as a public school, we encourage students to share their personal traditions and customs with their peers. It’s always so meaningful to learn more about our students and the different ways our families celebrate throughout the year.

For those who celebrate, we wish you a Happy Hanukkah! Hanukkah began tonight at sundown and concludes at nightfall on Monday, December 22, 2025. May this season be filled with light, warmth, and joy.

Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor activities. If your family is in need of winter gear or other basic necessities, don’t hesitate to reach out.

We wish you a restful winter break filled with joy, peace, and time spent with loved ones. If you are celebrating any winter holidays, we hope they bring you happiness and cherished moments.

Warm regards,
Lisa

Important Highlights

Book Fair & Multicultural Night

A special thank you to the PTA for organizing a very successful Best Books Book Fair and for providing vouchers to ensure all students had the opportunity to participate and take home new books.

The PTA's next event, Multicultural Night, is coming on January 30th. They are looking for families to help celebrate the incredible cultures in our community. Please consider signing up to host a station or give a short performance to share a part of your culture - through food, games, crafts, music, dance, or anything you choose.

The PTA requests commitments by the end of the month so they can begin planning. Not sure what you’ll bring or perform yet but definitely plan to participate? Signup here and update your details later.

Attendance Update

Each month, our Student Support Team reviews attendance records and reaches out to families if a student has been absent, tardy, or dismissed for 5 or more days (or 10% or more). If your child meets this criteria, you will receive this notice, even if we’ve already been in contact.

We understand that there are many reasons for absences, but missing school frequently can impact a child's ability to keep up with their learning. We’re reaching out to:

    • Confirm if any absences or tardies should be excused
    • Understand if there are challenges affecting attendance
    • Explore ways to support regular attendance moving forward
    • Our goal is to work together to ensure your child’s success and well-being. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
