A letter from Ms. Williams |
Dear Burbank Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break and that 2026 is off to a great start for your family. It has been a joy welcoming students and staff back to Burbank and seeing everyone settle in so smoothly. Classrooms are already buzzing with learning, and I’ve loved hearing students share highlights from their time away.
Just before vacation, our entire school enjoyed a Winter Wonderland Door Decorating Stroll, as students and staff explored the halls of Burbank to admire the creativity, teamwork, and festive spirit on display throughout the building. It was a joyful way to head into break, and we’re excited to share that experience with you through our Virtual Burbank Decorated Door Stroll slideshow. We hope you enjoy seeing the wonderful designs and celebrating the collaborative creations of our students and staff.
As we continue to experience cold winter weather, please be sure your child comes to school dressed warmly for outdoor activities. If your family needs assistance with winter gear, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Nurse Becca at rberger@belmontschools.net. We are happy to help ensure all students are comfortable and prepared for chilly days.
As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Warm regards, Lisa

The PTA's next event, Multicultural Night, is coming on February 6th, 5-8PM (note the change in date & time!). They are looking for families to help celebrate the incredible cultures in our community. Please consider signing up to host a station or give a short performance to share a part of your culture - through food, games, crafts, music, dance, or anything you choose.
The PTA requests commitments by the end of the month so they can begin planning. Not sure what you’ll bring or perform yet but definitely plan to participate? Signup here and update your details later.

New Years Around the World |
We’re creating a bulletin board to learn about New Year celebrations from around the world! We know the New Year happens at different times in different cultures, and we’d love to include those observed by our Burbank community. We welcome you to share photos, short descriptions, or anything that shows how your family celebrates. Let’s learn from each other and discover the many ways people welcome a new year! |

During our All School Community Meeting this week (Jan. 13), students will explore the importance of working together to support our community. As part of this effort, we are collecting donations for Cradles to Crayons, a local organization dedicated to fighting Children’s Clothing Insecurity.
We invite families to participate by donating a new set of pajamas or $1 (or more!) to help children in need. Both monetary contributions and new pajama donations are greatly appreciated.
On Tuesday, February 10, students are encouraged to wear their pajamas or cozy clothes to school as we come together to celebrate our efforts. During our All-School Burbank Community Meeting, we will gather and present our collected donations to support Cradles to Crayons.
Thank you for your generosity and support in making a difference!

Third grade is an important year as students take part in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) for the first time. During this assessment, students will complete two sessions in English Language Arts (ELA) and two sessions in Math. The data collected from these assessments our school and district evaluate the effectiveness of our curriculum and instruction, and identify areas for improvement.
While more details will be shared later this winter and spring, we kindly ask that you mark your calendars for the following MCAS dates to ensure your child is present (please note that the Math dates have been changed):
ELA: March 31 & April 2
Math: May 14 & 15
