Dear Families,
I hope you all enjoyed the extended snowy school vacation week! As we welcome March, we reflect on the many highlights of February, including our celebration of Black History Month, our focus on caring and kindness during Kindness Week (which included the very successful Cradles to Crayons Pajama Drive!), and the 100th day of school. A particular highlight was our moving All School Meeting, where students and staff formed a human chain and sang We Shall Overcome, guided by Ms. Sinclair and narrated by our students. It was a beautiful moment of unity and community that truly captured the spirit of Burbank.
March brings so much to celebrate! We honor Women’s History Month and National Reading Month, and we can’t wait for Burbank’s much-anticipated Family Dance on Friday, March 6th, from 6:00–8:00 PM. Throughout the month, we’ll share our love of books with themed spirit days (see the calendar below) and special events like Library Night and our Retiree Dedication on March 17th. We’re also thrilled to welcome storyteller Len Cabral back for a whole-school enrichment experience on March 11th, all made possible by the generosity of our fabulous PTA!
We look forward to meeting with families to discuss and celebrate our students’ progress, as well as set goals for the remainder of the year. Your ongoing communication and partnership are greatly appreciated and play an important role in supporting your child’s continued growth and success at school.
Finally, we want to extend our best wishes to all those in our community observing Ramadan. May this be a time of reflection, peace, and connection for you and your families.
Wishing everyone a wonderful month of learning, reading, and togetherness!
Warm regards,
Lisa
