A letter from Ms. Williams |
Dear Families,
I hope you all had a nice weekend, and a Happy Orthodox Easter to those who celebrated. It was wonderful to come together for our STEM Night. Thank you to our PTA, dedicated parent volunteers, high school students and their math and science clubs, and our community partners for making the evening such a success. It was a fun and engaging event, and it is always a joy learning alongside our students.
We also appreciate our PTA Enrichment Committee for bringing back the Tanglewood Marionettes, a longtime tradition and special experience for our first graders.
I will be hosting a Virtual Principal Lunch Chat tomorrow, Monday, April 13th at 12:00 PM. I hope you are able to join the conversation and bring any questions you may have.
This month, Burbank has been honoring Arab American Heritage Month, and we will celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month immediatley following April break. These opportunities help our students learn about and appreciate the diverse cultures and individuals who contribute to make our community and world a better place. We welcome family input! Please let us know if there are people, customs, or traditions you would like us to highlight in our morning announcements or on our bulletin boards.
As we approach April vacation, which begins this Saturday, I wish all of our families a restful and enjoyable break. Before Friday, please take a moment to check the Lost and Found, as any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the day.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or just to connect. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.
Warm regards, Lisa

Important Updates & Highlights |

Burbank’s 2026 Outstanding Teacher Award (OTA) recipient is kindergarten teacher Melissa Chalmers. Presented by the Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE) and sponsored by the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation, this award recognizes the extraordinary contributions of teachers across Belmont Public Schools. Community members submit nominations, and an FBE subcommittee selects one outstanding teacher from each school. Melissa’s recognition reflects the meaningful and lasting impact she has on our students and school community.
In addition, PE teacher Wayne Franey has been named the recipient of the 2026 S. Warren Farrell Award for Educational Excellence, also presented by the Foundation for Belmont Education. This award honors one educator districtwide for their longstanding dedication, leadership, and contributions to the Belmont community, continuing the legacy of S. Warren Farrell’s many years of service.
The entire community is invited to celebrate these honorees at a ceremony on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Please join me in congratulating both of these educators on this well-deserved recognition.

Kindergarten Intake Day: May 7 & 8 |
|
|
On May 7 and 8, the Burbank staff will welcome our incoming kindergarten students and their families for K–Intake Days. Please note that there will be no school for current kindergarten students on these dates.
This special event provides an opportunity for staff to meet with each child and learn more about their unique strengths, learning styles, and developmental needs. During the visit, Principal Williams will meet with parents and caregivers to share an overview of the kindergarten experience at Burbank School. Families will also have the opportunity to connect with a counselor and an English Language Educator to share important information, helping us thoughtfully plan class placements and ensure the appropriate supports are in place for every student. A sign-up for K–Intake Days will be shared with families in the coming days. We look forward to meeting our newest students and families as we begin building a strong foundation for a successful year ahead!

As the end of the school year approaches, we realize that it's a busy time of year. If your child will not be returning to Burbank this fall, we ask that you kindly notify us at your earliest convenience. If you are not leaving Belmont Public Schools, there is nothing you need to do. Please call or email with any questions or concerns. |
