Family Newsletter - June 15, 2025

Message from the Principal

Dear Butler Community,
How can it be the last week of school? In many ways, this school year flew by with many things to celebrate. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each member of our school community. This year has been filled with learning, growth, and numerous successes that we can all be proud of. I would like to thank our incredible staff and teachers, whose commitment to excellence has made this year so successful. Their dedication to our students' education and well-being is truly inspiring.

A special thank you to our parent volunteers and PTA for their tireless efforts in supporting our school. From events like Color Day, Fun Run, Multicultural Night, STEM Night, Art Night, Literacy Week, Spring Dance, Talent Show, and Staff Appreciation Week, your contributions have made a significant impact on our community, and we are deeply grateful for your involvement.

The next school year will bring many changes for the Butler School, with a new principal leading the school. I have truly enjoyed my time at the Butler School both as the Principal and originally as a third grade teacher. It not an exaggeration when I say that Butler is an amazing community that will always hold a special place in my heart. I am confident that the Butler School will continue to be a place where all students are supported and successful.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together we have created a vibrant and nurturing environment for our students to thrive. Enjoy this last week of school and I wish you all a wonderful, restful summer break.

All My Best,
Julie Babson
Principal

Notes from the Nurse

End of the Year Medication Pickup

Please remember that all student medications in the clinic need to be picked up by parents on or before the last day of school or they will be discarded. No medications can be stored in the school over the summer. EpiPens and inhalers that have not been picked up by the last school day were sent home in your child’s backpack on Friday June 13th. Please feel free to leave them in the front pocket on the backpack for the final two days of school. I am happy to arrange appointments in the fall before school starts for medication drop off and updated health discussions as needed. Feel free to email me if you would like to schedule an appointment. I do check email periodically over the summer but will not be at school until just before the start of school in September.

As always, please reach out if you have questions or concerns.

School Advisory Council Open Positions

The Butler School is looking for one more parent representatives for the School Advisory Council. A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.

Councils are to assist principals by reviewing the school building budget and developing the school improvement plan. Councils' school improvement plans are submitted to the local school committee for review and approval. The law outlines four major areas of responsibility for councils. School councils are to assist principals in:

  • Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards

  • Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school

  • Reviewing the annual school building budget

  • Formulating a school improvement plan

The Butler School Advisory Council meets 4-5 times a year. Please email the principal if you are interested.

Lost and Found

There is quite a collection of clothing and items in the Butler Lost and Found. Lost and Found items will be brought outside at arrival and dismissal daily. Please look through this collection of items to see if anything belongs to you or your child(ren). Any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the school year.
