Who Would Win Author Visit, 6/12 (6pm, Chenery Auditorium)
Typically the 3rd graders create an art project to leave as a memory of their time at Butler. This year the art project will be placed outside on the Butler playground on benches that will be permanently installed for everyone’s future use and enjoyment. During their art class next week, the 3rd graders will be decorating tiles that will be adhered to these benches.
As you pick up your children the week after Memorial Day, please take the opportunity to enjoy the children's wonderful artwork! We want to thank Ms. Williams for her support in making this art project a reality.
Volunteer Opportunities and News
Volunteer For the PTA for the 2025-2026 School Year
We have many open coordinator and board positions with the Butler PTA. If you are interested in finding out more or getting involved next year, check out our open positions for 2025-26 and fill out the form here. We are especially looking for Co-Vice Presidents and a Bookkeeper. Thanks for considering!
We are especially in need of:
PTA Vice-Presidents: The PTA's Vice Presidents support the two co-presidents for a one-year term and are expected to move into the co-president role the following year. A full description of the VP and President are listed in our bylaws. This position takes time and energy, but is also fun and rewarding! If interested in finding out more or talking to one of the current Vice-Presidents, email butlerpta@gmail.com.
Bookkeeper: We are looking for a bookkeeper for the remainder of the year who can shadow our current Treasurer with deposits, paying bills, colleecting reimbursement forms, processing reimbursements, and account reconciliation. The PTA needs both a Treasurer and a Bookkeeper to ensure checks and balances in overseeing PTA Funds. While a background in accounting or finance is helpful, it is not necessary.
Nominating Committee Members: The Nominating Committee, led by Julie Crockett this year, spearheads the search for filling vacant PTA positions. This team works with the PTA presidents to identify who will remain in their positions the following year and which positions will become vacant. This group of 3-5 parents solicits Butler community members to fill these vacant positions. We will have one meeting in May and one meeting in June.
Have questions? Send an email to butlerpta@gmail.com and we’ll do our best to help.
Library Volunteer - (during school)
Come volunteer in the library during your child’s/children’s library time.
Our Library Aide Ms. Joanne is preferably looking for parents who can commit to multiple times throughout the year.
If you missed orientation, you can still volunteer by:
3rd grade parents - looking ahead to volunteering at the CUE!
Will you be at the CUE next year? Similar to the Butler PTA, the Chenery PTO is a fully volunteer-run organization, and would love for you to be involved.Want to contact them directly? Email chenerypto@gmail.com.
Event Recaps and Other News
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!, 5/5 - 5/9
We celebrated the amazing teachers and staff who make a difference in our children’s lives every day! During the week of May 5–9, a variety of fun and meaningful activities were planned to show our appreciation for all they do.
Kindergarten Intake Day, 5/8
We welcomed the incoming Kindergartners and met some of the new families who will be a part of the Butler community next year. New families have been invited to the food truck on May 23rd. Stop by and say hello!
Enrichment Update
Our VPs of Enrichment have been working closely with Ms. Babson and Butler staff to ensure our children have in- and out-of-school enrichment opportunities beyond traditional classroom time.
Most recently, the Tanglewood Marionettes visited our school to perform the “Fairy Circus” for our final in-school assembly of the year.
And the 3rd graders had a fun visit to the MIT Edgerton Museum last week where they built lego cars to participate in Lego Car Rally. The purpose was to build cars that could undergo two challenges - the tilt test and the distance test.
We have 4 more fun field trips for our students at the end of May and into June!
The Kindergartners will learn about different animals during an in-school visit from Animal Adventures on June 2!
The 1st graders will learn about insects during an in school visit from Professor Bugman on May 30!
The 2nd graders will visit the Franklin Park Zoo and participate in a zoo program on animals and their habitats on June 3!
The 3rd graders will visit the New England Aquarium on May 30!
